Chandra Armstrong, MD
Primary Care and Family Medicine
Originally from Denver, Colorado, Dr. Chandra Armstrong earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics/Pre-Med, Magna Cum Laude, from Spelman College. Shortly after, she attended the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center (UCHSC) School of Medicine, and received her Doctor of Medicine, graduating with honors. Following graduation, she relocated to Chicago for her residency at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke/Illinois Masonic Medical Center where she served as a family practice resident, and later as a chief resident.
Dr. Armstrong became fascinated with medicine during her childhood visits to the doctor, and her passion for the field continues to this day. “I wanted to help people, just as I had been helped,” she explains. “The most rewarding parts of my job are the relationships and bonds that have been formed with the patients by treating them, guiding them through various illnesses, and helping them stay healthy.”
Alongside her specialty in family medicine, Dr. Armstrong has found a particular interest in the development and execution of vaccines, specifically in women’s preventative health, such as the HPV vaccine. Additionally, Dr. Armstrong currently spearheads the Aesthetics division of United Physician Group which performs services such as botox, laser hair removal, and more.
Dr. Armstrong has practiced family medicine in Decatur for more than 20 years and joined United Physician Group in September of 2019.
Outside of work, Dr. Armstrong enjoys spending time with her two daughters and husband, as well as engaging in exercise.
